Co Tyrone man returned for trial on indecent images charges

A CO Tyrone man has been returned for trial on multiple charges around the alleged making of indecent images of children.

Appearing for a committal hearing was Timothy Acheson (51) from Killycavan Manor, Dungannon who is accused of 23 counts of taking or making indecent images of children, three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images and a single count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.

Offending is alleged to have occurred on various dates between 2011 and 2016.

No details surrounding the charges were disclosed during the short hearing before Dungannon Magistrates Court.

A prosecuting lawyer said there is a case to answer which was agreed by District Judge Michael Ranaghan.

Acheson confirmed he understood the charges and did not object to the proceedings. He declined to call witnesses or give evidence on his own behalf at this stage.

Judge Ranaghan remanded him on £500 bail to appear for arraignment at Dungannon Crown Court next month.
