FILMING of the final series of Derry Girls got underway at the weekend with Barry's Amusements in Portrush among the locations.
While crew members and security tried to block out any sight of the main stars during filming on Friday, some of the actors were spotted in the Co Antrim town as the cameras rolled for the third series.
Among the stars seen on set were Ian McElhinney, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Dylan Llewellyn, Tara Lynne O’Neill and Tommy Tiernan. Fellow stars Jamie Lee O’Donnell, Louisa Harland and Kathy Kiera Clarke also arrived for filming for the Channel 4 show.
It comes just weeks after the show's creator said Derry Girls is to come to an end following its forthcoming series.
Lisa McGee said it was "always the plan to say goodbye after three series" as she confirmed that "this is it" for the hit show.
In a post on Twitter, Ms McGee said it had "been an honour to write it and I will be forever proud of everything it's achieved".
The second series of the comedy, which follows a group of teenagers growing up in the 1990s, was filmed in 2018, but the third instalment was delayed due to coronavirus.
But filming finally got underway over the weekend with television trucks and cameras set up at Barry's Amusements, the former iconic entertainment venue.
While most of the cast could be seen wearing the usual 1990s styled clothing for filming, McElhinney, who plays Granda Joe in the show was spotted wearing a wetsuit and Louisa Harland who plays Orla McCool was wearing a purple Kangol hat and face paint.
A major ratings success, the first episode of its second series had a consolidated audience of 3.2 million viewers and was Channel 4's biggest UK comedy launch episode for 15 years.
