A staff member has been threatened with a screwdriver during a shop robbery in south Belfast.

The incident occurred at the Ormeau Road store at around 9.20pm on Tuesday.

A man, described as five feet six inches in height and of stocky build, threatened a worker with a screwdriver before fleeing with cash and cigarettes.

A PSNI spokesperson said the suspect was wearing a grey top with the hood up, blue jeans, dark trainers, a blue surgical mask and blue gloves.

"Our enquiries into this incident are continuing, and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have any information which could assist, to contact detectives immediately on 101."
