POLICE are investigating an assault on a man playing a Wolfe Tones song loudly as a loyalist band parade passed his car.

The footage of a male being shared on social media appears to show him being punched by a bandsman as `We're On The One Road' played on the car stereo while the parade passed.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the "incident" happened in the Hope Street area of south Belfast on Saturday at around 5.45pm.

During the clip the driver can be heard telling the passenger who is filming him to "turn it up" as the band approached the vehicle.

He is also seen hitting the side of his vehicle as he sat inside the car, saluting and gave the thumbs up to band members as they pass.

A man wearing a band uniform was filmed going over to the car and asking "What's wrong?" and the driver replying: "What are you going to do?"

The exchange was repeated as the volume was turned up further and then the bandsman is filmed punching the driver through the window.

Police said they are "investigating".
