Inaugural 'Chieftan's Walk' in memory of Martin McGuinness held in New York

A walk has been held in the US in support of a foundation set up in memory of former Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

The Chieftains Walk in New York took place yesterday and is based on a similar annual event held in Derry to commemorate the senior Sinn Féin man.

Mr McGuinness died from a rare condition in March 2017 aged 66.

The event set off from and finished at Irish Hunger Memorial in New York before after making its way around part of the city yesterday morning.

US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was expected to address those in attendance.

All proceeds raised from the event are going to the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation.
