Coronavirus: Five further deaths and 1,020 new cases

There have been five further deaths of patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.

The Department of Health said there had also been 1,020 new confirmed cases in the last 24-hour reporting period.

On Monday morning there were 379 Covid-19 patients in hospital, down from 480 seven days ago.

There are 33 in intensive care today, down from 35 yesterday.

A total of 2,506,669 vaccines have been administered.

There have been 196 hospital admissions in past week, down from 285 the previous week.

There have been 8,277 cases over past seven days, down from 10,256 the previous week. There have been 40 covid related death in past seven days, down from 46 last week. 

Some 43% of those testing positive for Covid 19 in the past week were aged 19 or younger and 7% were aged over 70.

Meanwhile, in the Republic a further 1,154 cases of Covid-19 have been notified.

At 8am today, there were 297 Covid-positive patients in hospital, with 63 in intensive care.
