BELFAST city centre received a welcome splash of colour over the weekend with the appearance of more than 50 new murals.

Hundreds of spectators gathered to see the new artwork being created on streets across the city as part of the 'Hit The North Street Art Festival' (HTN).

As Ireland’s biggest street art festival, local and international artists created a breath-taking array of modern murals at a 'street art jam'.

HTN was established in 2013 as part of rejuvenation efforts in the North Street area of Belfast.

But the latest murals can be seen across city as well as south and east Belfast, as the festival expanded its footprint due to its growing popularity.

The festival and has seen over 200 artists from all over the world visit Belfast, aiming to bring the city’s rich cultural history for mural art into the 21st century.

Adam Turkington, director of Seedhead Arts, said "this year’s HTN has been the biggest yet".

"It’s been fantastic to see local businesses as well as the hospitality and arts sector continue to support the artists taking part and we hope these incredible works of art continue to capture people’s imagination," he said.
