There have been no further deaths linked to Covid-19, the Department of Health has said in its daily update on the pandemic.

It means the death toll in the north remains at 2,155.

Another 178 positive cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

There are 16 inpatients in hospital who have tested positive for coronavirus with 12 beds occupied by Covid patients with none in ICU.

Bed occupancy in hospitals is 100 per cent. Four hospitals are operating beyond capacity; the Mater Hosptial in north Belfast, the Royal Victoria Hospital in west Belfast, the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen and the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.

The seven-day infection rate per 100,000 is 48.1. The area with the highest rate is Derry and Strabane at 150.0 while Ards and North Down has the lowest rate at 13.1.

There are three outbreaks in care homes.

There have been 1,922,617 vaccinations administered to date; 1,132,546 first doses and 790,071 second doses.

Earlier today the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) released figures showing 2,979 Covid-related deaths had occurred by June 11.

While the Department of Health statistics focus primarily on hospital deaths and only include people who have tested positive for the virus, Nisra obtains its data from death certificates on which Covid-19 is recorded as a factor by a medical professional, regardless of whether the patient tested positive.
