Tributes have been paid to a Co Armagh priest who has passed away suddenly.

Fr Tony Corr, who was 57, suffered a heart attack and died on Sunday at his home in Banbridge.

Originally from Craigavon, Fr Corr was ordained in the mid-nineties and went on to work in a number of parishes including Warrenpoint, Hilltown, Banbridge and Newry.

In recent years, he became parish priest of Donaghmore and Aghaderg parishes, and vicar general of the diocese of Dromore.

Speaking to the Irish News, Kieran Corr said his brother's sudden death had left the family "devastated".

Mr Corr said his sibling would be remembered as someone who was "fun loving".

"He got on with everybody," he said.

"Nobody had a bad word to say. He was loved by the young and old.

"He was very funny. Very witty."

Posting on Facebook, Moyraverty Parish said there was a "great shock and profound sadness" at the "untimely and sudden death of Fr Tony Corr".

"He was an outstandingly pastoral priest, funny, compassionate, efficient, and devoted to Our Lady".

The page said Fr Corr was also a regular in Lourdes with the diocesan pilgrimage.

"Our deepest sympathies go his sister, brothers, nieces and nephews and many friends, parishioners and brother priests".

In a funeral notice, Aghaderg Lourdes Committee said it "deeply" regretted the death of their "esteemed friend and Spiritual Director Fr Tony Corr.

"Fr Tony was fully committed to working with his Lourdes family over the last 25 years. He will be sincerely missed and his kindness, friendship and dedication will never be forgotten".
