East Belfast man remanded into custody in connection with £350,000 cocaine seizure

A MAN was remanded into custody today charged in connection with an estimated £350,000 cocaine seizure in east Belfast.

Brian Dempsey appeared at the city's Magistrates Court after the haul of drugs was recovered on Saturday.

The 56-year-old, of Ardenvohr Street in Belfast, is accused of possessing cocaine with intent to supply.

He also faces further counts of possessing and concealing criminal property.

According to police the seized cocaine has an estimated street value of £350,000.

A detective said he could connect Dempsey to the charges.

No application for bail was made, and no further details were disclosed during the brief hearing.

Deputy District Judge Trevor Browne remanded Dempsey in custody, to appear again by video-link in four weeks time.
