Teenager faces rioting and drug charges over Carrickfergus disorder

A 19-year-old man has been charged with rioting and drug possession among other offences in relation to public disorder in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim last month.

The teenager will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on June 16 to face charges including throwing petrol bomb, possession of fireworks without a licence, riot, possessing petrol bomb in suspicious circumstances, and possession of a Class B controlled drug.

It follows the events of April 5 in the town.

The PSNI said all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service "as is normal procedure".
