Northern Ireland's `Coastal Causeway' one of Instagram's top 20 most beautiful road trips

NORTHERN Ireland's `Coastal Causeway' has made it into the top 20 Instagram's most beautiful road trips.

Data analysis reveal the 200 mile stretch between Belfast and Derry which features Game of Thrones filming locations and UNESCO World Heritage site the Giant's Causeway, has 244 pictures per mile on the popular social media site - putting it at 19th place.

Australia's Great Ocean Road topped the list with 8,000 photographs per mile - more than than any other stretch of road in the world.

The Coastal Causeway, which connects with two other key tourist drives - the Wild Atlantic Way and the Mourne Coastal Route - comes above Scotland's scenic North Coast 500, but below Military Road on The Isle of Wight which is ranked 15th on the list analysed by Pentagon Motor Group.

It looked at more than seven million Instagram hashtags to find the most picturesque road trips that keen travellers can tick off their bucket lists without leaving their car.

California's Big Sur, the famous Route 66 and Jebel Hafeet in the United Arab Emirates are among the international destinations featured.
