A 39-year-old man has been charged following the stabbing of two men in west Belfast.

He was charged with three counts of common assault, threats to damage property, threats to kill and criminal damage and is due to appear at Belfast MC on Tuesday 13th April. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance in New Barnsley Park shortly after 3am yesterday.

A spokesman said a man in his 20s was stabbed shortly afterwards in the Avoca Court area, sustaining injuries to his chest, his left side, throat and head.

The man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable.

A second man, also in his 20s, was located a short distance away at Mount Alverno Garage on the Springfield Road. He had suffered stab wounds to his right arm, abdomen and leg.
