A Co Down teenager prompted a few double takes when she visited a fast food drive-thru on horse back.

Yazmin O'Reilly, from Newry, rode to McDonald's in the city and ordered food at the drive-thru window while on her four-legged friend, Kizzi

Given the horse when it was just a foal, the 17-year-old said she always wanted to order fast food on horseback.

Having trained Kizzi, she rode her on Saturday to buy a double-cheeseburger and a portion of Chicken Selects.

The 17-year-old and Kizzi lined up behind other customers and waited for their turn.

Speaking to Belfast Live, she said: "[It's] something I’ve said for years that I’d do if I ever had a horse quiet enough.

"So I trained my own. I got the pony for free when she was a foal off the travellers as a present.

"I hack her around the town on a regular basis. She’s even been to Tesco car park."

She said the McDonald's staff "thought it was class".

"They were very facilitating and got my food from the window for me."

She added that her parents "think it’s great because it shows everyone you don’t need a horse worth thousands to have fun with".
