Man charged over bomb hoax call to Strand Road Police Station in Derry

A MAN appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with a bomb hoax at Strand Road PSNI station.

Emmet Gillen (38) of Clon Elagh in the city was charged with communicating to the police that there was a bomb at the station knowing that information to be false on January 11.

He was also charged with using the public communications network to send a message of a menacing nature on the same date.

Deputy District Judge Sean O'Hare released Gillen on his own bail of £500, imposed a curfew from 9pm until 7am and imposed a no drugs or drink condition.

The judge warned the defendant any breach of these conditions would lead to him going into custody. The case was adjourned until February 10.
