THERE were calls on social media for breakfast TV host Piers Morgan to be sacked amid claims he broke Covid government guidelines by travelling to the Caribbean over Christmas.
It was claimed yesterday that the 55-year-old broadcaster broke the rules by leaving his high tier home to travel to Antigua for a festive break.
The claims came as Mr Morgan continued to make repeated calls for people to comply with restrictions and stay at home where possible.
However some people took to Twitter calling for him to be dismissed by Good Morning Britain if it was found he had broken the rules.
One tweeted: "Get a petition up for his dismissal. How dare he scream at everyone whilst doing just what he’s telling them not to. I used to be one of his biggest advocates but not no more," while another added: "Why is it always those that shout the loudest about the rules that are so supremely relaxed about breaking them?"
The calls come a month after Sky news presenter, Kay Burley was taken off air for six months after she admitted breaking Covid rules during a night out for her 60th birthday.
