SEVERAL people living in a Co Antrim village were evacuated from their homes today after three suspicious objects were found in the area.

Diversions were put in place in the area of the Castlecat Road and the Knock Road in Dervock, as well as at Castlecat Road in Derrykeighan.

A PSNI spokesman said police were "working with the local council to facilitate a number of residents in the area whose homes have been evacuated".

Sinn Féin assembly member Philip McGuigan condemned the security alerts.

"Families have had to be evacuated from their homes on a cold winter morning as a result of these security alerts," he said.

"Those responsible for these devices have nothing to offer and this is an attack on the entire community.

"This is the latest in a series of incidents in recent days, including a shooting incident in Coleraine and other attacks."
