POLICE are investigating an attack on a Co Armagh church.

Three windows were broken at Church of the Good Shepherd on the Derrymore Road, Bessbrook.

A police spokesman said it happened some time between 8pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday.

It came a day after vandals set fire to wood delivered to create a new community play park in the village.

Sinn Féin councillor Declan Murphy condemned the two attacks.

"I share the anger of all at news of this criminal damaging of this church," he said.

"Those involved in this type of activity should realise that this attack is not only an attack on a church building and its congregation but on the entire local community who are disgusted by such a wanton criminal act.

"Anyone who has any information in relation to this incident or the arson attack on the play area equipment close by should contact the PSNI immediately."
