Coronavirus: New daily record as 1,217 cases reported while total deaths now higher than 600

There have been 1,217 further coronavirus cases reported in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours and four deaths.

It is the largest daily rise in cases in the north since an extended testing regime was introduced and the third time in six days that Northern Ireland has recorded more than 1,000 new cases. 

Another four people have died after contracting Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths recorded by the Department of Health to 602.

There are currently 164 hospital admissions with Covid-19, 24 patients in intensive care, 17 on ventilators. There are 13 ICU beds now left in Northern Ireland.

There are 56 care home outbreaks and 10 suspected.
