THE shooting of a man in the arms and legs in a paramilitary-style attack in Co Antrim has been strongly condemned by police and politicians.
Three men forced their way into a house at Ballykenver Road outside the village of Stranocum shortly before 10.20pm on Saturday before carrying out the "brutal attack".
Police have appealed for information, saying: "This is despicable and should not happen in a civilised society."
DUP assembly member Mervyn Storey said it must be "condemned in the strongest possible way".
"We live in a democratic society not some sort of wild west.
"As we are seeing a worrying increase in these attacks I will be meeting with senior police to discuss how they are going to deal with this upsurge and give confidence to the local community that all is being do to catch those responsible."
DUP Causeway Coast and Glens councillor John McAuley also said: "No one has the right to enter a property and inflict this sinister and warped form of justice on anyone."
