CARS have been destroyed in overnight arson attacks in Ballycastle and Bushmills.

In the first arson attack two masked men smashed the windows of a blue VW Bora in Boyd Court in Ballycastle then "placed something inside and set it alight", according to police. The car was completely destroyed and a car parked beside it, a blue Skoda Rapid, was damaged. The incident was reported to police at around 1.35am.

Around eight hours later police were alerted to the discovery of a car that had been completely destroyed on Isle Road in Bushmills.

Police said they are not investigating a link between either of these incidents and an arson attack yesterday on a car in Ballycastle's Leyland Drive.
