SNOW Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody is among the line-up of guests as the Late Late Show returns tonight for its new season.

Paddleboarders Ellen Glynn and Sara Feeney, who were rescued from the sea off Galway last month, will appear alongside the hero fishermen who saved them, Patrick and Morgan Oliver.

The RTÉ chat show will also feature a special interview with GAA broadcaster Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh in Croke Park following his 90th birthday.

The Republic's acting chief medical officer Dr Ronan Glynn will discuss the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Samar Fatima Ali will be in studio to speak about the devastating loss of her father, Dr Syed Waqqar Ali, a doctor in Dublin's Mater Hospital, who died after contracting Covid-19.

Music acts Women in Harmony and The Frank and Walters will also be among the guests.

Host Ryan Tubridy said the team were "all giddy and excited and a little bit anxious" about the show's return, describing the line-up as a "humdinger".

The first Late Late Show of the new season airs on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.

Speaking last month at the launch of RTÉ's autumn schedule, Tubridy said he does not foresee an audience being on any edition of the Late Late Show "this side of January" due to the pandemic.
