No new Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health has said.

Another 29 people tested positive, bringing the overall tally to 6,217.

Three people who have tested positive are in intensive care with two patients being ventilated.

There is one confirmed outbreak in a care home in the north with a further eight suspected outbreaks.

Yesterday, 48 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, leading to Health Minister Robin Swann expressing concern at the increasing number.

There is now an average of more than 27 new positive cases per day compared to approximately three per day a few weeks ago.

Mr Swann said: "The threat has not gone away and our HSC system still needs our support. I therefore make no apology for once again urging everyone to remain vigilant."
