Michael O'Neill diagnosed with coronavirus

Former Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill

FORMER Northern Ireland soccer manager Michael O'Neill has tested positive for coronavirus.

O'Neill, who currently manages Champiosnship side Stoke City, had tested negative in the previous five rounds of testing by the club.

Stoke has said he will now follow guidelines and go into isolation.

The club was due to play Manchester United in a friendly but that had to be called off at the last minute when news of the diagnosis broke.

The Potters had already travelled to the united training ground for the game, however, it is understood no-one from their party had mixed with anyone from Manchester United.

Assistant manager Billy McKinlay will take charge of training as the club prepare for their game against Reading on 20 June.

It is expected O'Neill will remain in virtual contact with his staff and players while he recovers.
