Derry Saoradh chairman arrested following police search

THE chairman of the Derry branch of Saoradh has been arrested following searches by the police NI Terrorism Investigation Unit.

PSNI Detective Inspector Clare Heaton said a 22-year-old man was arrested under the Terrorism Act yesterday and was taken to Belfast for questioning.

The dissident republican group later said that the chair of its Derry branch, Jude McCrory, had been arrested. Spokesman Paddy Gallagher said the arrest followed a search at his home.

Condemning the operation Mr Gallagher said police forced entry to the property and seized a number of items.
