Six more deaths have been recorded across the island of Ireland bringing the total to have died from COvid-19 to 2,199. 

There has been another death linked to Covid-19 recorded in the north by the Department of Health.

This death has occurred since 10am yesterday.

The latest fatality means 535 people have now been recorded as dying after being infected with coronavirus in Northern Ireland.

A further 33 positive tests were returned after a total of 1,856 were carried out. The Department of Health said the number of positive cases was higher than recent days due to the inclusion of 182 labratory tests carried out from 3-5 April at Altnagelvin Hospital that had not been previously counted in daily updates. These tests produced 24 positive results.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the north now stands at 4,773.

A further five deaths were announced by the National Public Health Emergency Team in the Republic, bringing the coronavirus death toll to 1,664.

There have been 38 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, taking the total since the outbreak began to 25,142.

The latest figures were released after the Stormont Executive confirmed a number of minor relaxations to coronavirus regulations will be introduced from Monday in Northern Ireland.

Retailers and small outdoor weddings will be permitted from June 8 after it was confirmed the R number - or rate of infection - remained below one.

Large stores like car showrooms and those in retail parks stocking household electrical appliances, computer equipment, mobile phones and furniture will also be able to open their doors.
