DETECTIVES are investigating reports of a racist hate crime in north Belfast which left a woman badly shaken after her house was targeted.

The victim heard the sound of glass smashing at her home in the Westland Way area of the city on Monday evening at 11.25pm.

She discovered that a window had been smashed with a stone.

Inspector Paul Noble said: "This must have been a frightening experience which has, understandably, left the victim shaken".

"Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are treating this incident as a racially motivated hate crime.

“We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or saw anything suspicious in the area around that time to contact us on 101."
