First funeral of double death victims takes place in Derry

The funeral of the first of two victims of a double death tragedy in Derry will take place later today.

Patrick Stokes and his partner, mother-of-two, Kim Hazlett were found dead at Ms Hazlett’s home at Claragh Court in Derry’s Strathfoyle shortly after 5pm on Friday last.

Post mortem examinations have been carried out to ascertain the cause of death and police are currently awaiting the results of toxicology tests. The police have said they are not treating the deaths as suspicious.

The funeral of Mr Stokes will take place following Requiem Mass at Holy Family church in Derry’s Ballymagroarty area at 10am. Mr Stokes will be buried afterwards at St Mary’s cemetery in Park in County Derry.

Ms Hazlett’s funeral service will take place at St Peter’s Church of Ireland church, Culmore Road tomorrow at 2pm after which she will be laid to rest at Ballyoan cemetery in Derry’s Waterside.
