Footage of gun attack on Crumlin hairdresser's posted online

A lone gunman is seen approaching the Style & Smile salon in Crumlin Main Street

A sinister recording of a gunman firing shots at a hairdresser's salon has been posted online.

The man can be seen walking towards Style & Smile on Main Street in Crumlin, Co Antrim at around 1.40am on Tuesday.

Dressed in dark clothing and with a white mask covering his face, he then points a handgun and fires 10 shots at the front of the salon.

The footage appears to have been recorded by a second person standing on a nearby bridge overlooking the row of shops.

The PSNI said they were still are "trying to establish a motive" for the gun attack.

However, The Irish News understands that threats have been made to a man who is a relative of the salon owner.

The 15-second video was posted on the controversial Éire Live Facebook page.

Sinn Féin South Antrim assembly member Declan Kearney said people in Crumlin "are in shock".

"Whilst no one was injured during the incident, it has been met with shock and disbelief by the local community," he said.

"I unreservedly condemn the use of firearms on our streets. This incident has served only to instil fear in the local community and has caused disruption to residents during the follow up police operation."

Alliance assembly member John Blair said there is real anger in in the area.

"This shooting incident will cause concern to local traders who are working hard in the run up to Christmas providing jobs and supporting the local economy," he said.

"Crumlin residents are angry that guns have been brought onto the streets and I would condemn whoever was responsible in the strongest possible terms."

The politicians urged anyone with information to pass it to police.
