Detectives have appealed for information following an armed robbery in Dungannon.

At around 3.50pm on Tuesday August 20 a man entered a shop in the Beechvalley area of the Co Tyrone town armed with a knife, demanding money from the till.

A staff member placed a sum of cash in a bag the man had with him, before he fled the premises on foot.

Detective Sergeant Robinson said: "Thankfully, no injuries were reported, however, there's no doubt this was a terrifying ordeal for staff members who were in their place of work simply doing their job.

"The suspect is described as having worn a navy-coloured hooded top with the hood pulled tight around his face and a white baseball-type cap underneath; black trainers and black tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes down the side. He's also reported as wearing a grey-fleece type jacket."

Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers.
