VAN Morrison is among the stand-out acts in a weekend of music in Belfast.

The singer will take to the stage on Sunday night at the city's newest festival, Live at Botanic Gardens.

Thousands of people are expected to descend on the famous gardens for the series of outdoor concerts, which are a new addition to the music scene in Belfast.

Irish duo Picture This will perform to a sell-out crowd tonight for the first of two nights at the festival.

Matt and Luke Goss of 1980s boy band Bros are also set to take to the stage of Live at Botanic Gardens next Thursday, while a Summer Celebration featuring Nathan Carter and Jessie Buckley takes place on Friday.

Gates are due to open at 6pm for all gigs except Summer Celebration, when they are due to open at 5.30pm. Gigs are estimated to finish at 10.30pm.

Gig organisers also said there is no support at Van Morrison and the show will start at 8pm sharp.

The 73-year-old Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter from east Belfast is expected to perform music from his wide array of music, including his most recent work, The Prophet Speaks, which was released in December 2018.

Meanwhile, singer George Ezra is back in Belfast to play Belsonic at Ormeau Park tomorrow night.

He is the latest in a host of famous faces set to perform at the music festival, which runs until June 28.

A huge line-up of acts from across the musical spectrum have already taken to the Belsonic stage this year including Stormzy, Slash and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

The Killers, Marshmello, Hozier and Tiesto are also among the headline acts who will perform at the festival next week.

Gates for Belsonic open at 6pm with music fans encouraged to use public transport to and from the gigs where possible.
