Three arrested after attempted robbery in Belfast city centre

It happened at a shop on Castle Street in Belfast city centre

A WOMAN and two men were arrested yesterday following an attempted armed robbery of a shop in Belfast city centre.

It was reported around 5.40pm and happened on Castle Street.

A man wearing a balaclava had entered the shop armed with a suspected firearm and demanded money from staff who refused.

The masked man then left the shop and made off from the scene.

Two men aged 52 and 61 and a 51-year-old woman were arrested a short time later in relation to the incident.

They last night remained in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Police urged anyone with information to phone detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1449 14/06/19, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
