A mother and son have been threatened with a firearm during an aggravated burglary in Co Down.

On Friday night a number of men forced their way into a property in the Glebetown Drive area of Downpatrick.

The woman and her adult son were threatened, and a shot was allegedly fired into the air as the gang made their escape.

A PSNI spokesman urged anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
