POLICE have seized £1 million of suspected class A drugs and arrested two men aged 24 and 27 following searches in the Mid Ulster area.

The searches were carried out in the Woodhouse Road area outside Coalisland, Co Tyrone, and four other premises in the Mid Ulster area yesterday.

Drugs paraphernalia, a suspected stolen car and a large volume of property linked to organised criminality were also recovered during the operation.

It follows other searches in the Mid Ulster area over the past six months in which police have seized a further £565,000 of class A drugs.

The two arrested men were last night continuing to assist police with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Keith Gawley said the operation shows the PSNI's "ongoing commitment to removing and disrupting the illegal supply of drugs in Northern Ireland".

"We know that drugs can ruin lives and line the pockets of organised criminals, and we are determined to disrupt these criminal gangs," he said.

He urged anyone with information to phone police on 101, quoting reference number 759 of 16/02/19, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
