Dozens of fire fighters battle Coleraine retail park blaze

Firefighters battled a blaze at a Co Derry retail park last night.

The fire broke out at the Indus Valley Indian restaurant in the Riverside Regional Centre at around 10pm.

The Fire Service said seven fire appliances and around 35 firefighters from Coleraine, Portstewart, Portrush and Derry were involved in tackling the blaze.

 A Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters dealt with a fire in Indus Valley restaurant and worked hard to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings and businesses."

"The incident was dealt with at 00.46am and the cause of the fire remains under investigation."

It is understood several businesses were affected.

Hullabaloos Bar & Grill, which is next door to Indus Valley, said it suffered some smoke damage and would be closed today.
