A CO Tyrone band is to entertain Cheltenham punters this week with a special track about the famous horse racing festival.

All Folk'd Up has written a new song that captures the magic of the highlight of the National Hunt season.

The festival, which is running this week, has a long-standing Irish connection, with thousands of horse racing fans travelling across to the Costwolds every year.

Alongside the races, bands will play the Guinness Grandstand, which is situated opposite the last fence.

Following a headline performance in 2018, All Folk'd Up has been invited back and will debut a catchy new song, called Cheltenham.

The band mixes classic sounds from folk and rock music traditions and sprinkles its own modern twist. Revellers have become accustomed to hearing bouncing melodies, enticing lyrical stories, and vintage folk-rock sounds with banjo progressions.

Singer Pauric Mohan, from Aughnacloy, said the band will play on the day of the festival's blue ribbon event - the Gold Cup.

"My uncle would be a big follower of horse racing. He helped with the lyrics and we put music to them. It would be typical of our sound - the beat is done to a gallop," he said.

"They bring Irish acts over every year. Last year was our first appearance and there were great crowds. We are playing on Gold Cup day - there will be about 60,000 people there that day all in and around the enclosure."
