A MAN in his 30s remained in a critical condition in hospital yesterday after being trapped under a car in Omagh.

The incident happened in the Coolnagard Upper area of the Co Tyrone town shortly before noon on Saturday, with the Air Ambulance attending the scene.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences and was released yesterday on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police said: "At around 11:50am, it was reported that a man was trapped under a blue Vauxhall Vectra vehicle in the area. The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital for his injuries. His condition is described as critical but stable."

Police have appealed for anyone with information or who witnessed the vehicle "driving erratically" to contact officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian in his 40s was killed in Co Kerry after being struck by a van on Saturday.

The collision happened at around 8.15pm as the man was walking near the village of Causeway, about 13 miles north of Tralee.
