SHOCKING footage which shows a man being beaten relentlessly in the driveway of a west Belfast house is being examined by police.

The three minute long clip shows the man being pushed to the ground before being attacked with what appears to be a golf club and a hammer.

It was filmed on CCTV on December 15 shortly after 3.30am.

Despite being beaten unconscious and no longer moving or trying to defend himself, the assault continues with blow after blow raining down on the man's head and body.

The attacker leaves but returned less than a minute later and bends down beside the injured man before continuing once again to beat him with a golf club.

At one stage a woman is seen coming from the house in the Iris area of west Belfast to try and stop the attack.
