POLICE have appealed for witnesses following a robbery at a north Belfast service station.

Two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a metal pipe, entered the premises in the York Street area on Tuesday at around 6.35pm.

After demanding cash, they jumped over the counter and attempted to open the till before making off with a quantity of cigarettes.

Police believe a third man remained at the door of the premises. The suspects made their way up North Queen Street into Spamount Street.

Police have appealed for witnesses and issued a description of the men.

One of the men is described as being 6ft 2in in height, slim build with short dark hair and wearing track suit bottoms and grey tracksuit top.

The second man is believed to be aged in his 20s, 5ft 11in tall, slim build and wearing a dark navy hoody, while the third man is believed to be shorter in height and wearing a blue hooded coat.
