GIRLS Aloud star, Nadine Coyle has joined the cast of BBC Northern Ireland's "Soft Border Patrol" comedy for a one-off cameo appearance.

The singer will star along side comedian Shane Todd as production gets underway for a new five-part series.

"Soft Border Patrol" is a "mockumentary" based on teams patrolling the border between the north and Republic.

The Derry singer will be joined in the series by BBC weather forecaster, Barra Best and country singers, Huge Duncan and Lisa McHugh. While details of the plot have not been released, Ms Coyle said she enjoyed working on the project.

"Being a Derry girl, I was always aware of the border and it's great to get back home and out filming with Shane and the crew for Soft Border Patrol," she said.

The series will be screened next year.
