Man (65) charged with possession of offensive weapon and making threat to kill

A 65-year-old man is expected to appear before Belfast magistrates court next month charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and making a threat to kill.

It is understood the charges relate to an assault at residential premises in the Mountforde Drive area of Belfast on Wednesday.

During the incident, a 42-year-old man was assaulted and taken to hospital for injuries that police said "are not believed to be serious".

Damage was also reported to have been caused to a house during the incident.

Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, was due to appear before Belfast magistrates court today.
