POLICE in north Belfast have recovered a car stolen in a creeper style burglary.

The incident tool place in the Old Park area yesterday.

Two men, aged 25 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and taking and driving away.

Chief Inspector Kelly Moore said, “Police making follow up enquiries into an earlier incident, discovered that a Volkswagen polo had been stolen from a property during a creeper style burglary in the Old Park area. The car was sighted just before 12 midday by police, but made off without stopping.

"A short time later, officers on patrol located the vehicle in the Mount Vernon area and arrested two males nearby. They are both currently helping with our enquiries.

"We have and will continue to take stolen cars off the streets, arrest offenders and bring them before the courts. Criminals who steal vehicles and then drive them recklessly have little or no thought for the local community or for the consequences of their actions which are reckless in the extreme."
