THE family of a Co Fermanagh woman critically injured in a road crash which killed two people have said she has opened her eyes after being in a coma for days.

Rachel Elliott's sister Donna posted a Facebook message at the weekend saying: "Rachel has finally opened her eyes and this is an improvement... please keep praying."

Earlier on Saturday, Ms Elliott had said that her family had brought a St Pio glove to Rachel (25) in the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where she is being treated.

The Irvinestown woman, who is the mother of a three-year-old son, has been critically ill since the car she was travelling in crashed in Bundoran, Co Donegal eight days ago.

Two other passengers, Shiva Devine (20) from Belleek and Conall McAleer (20) from Boa Island, died from their injuries.

Two male passengers were also seriously injured in the single-car collision.
