A body recovered by Foyle Search and Rescue yesterday has been identified as that of 26-year-old Martin Crumlish who went missing earlier this month.

Mr Crumlish was last spotted heading in the direction of the village of Carrigans just over the border in Donegal at the start of August.

His family launched an appeal for information about his whereabouts saying it was very out of character for him not to stay in touch.

However, a body recovered from the River Foyle yesterday afternoon has been identified as being the missing Derry man.

A PSNI spokesperson said; "Unfortunately ourselves and Foyle Search and Rescue recovered a body from the River Foyle.

"This was confirmed to be that of our missing person Martin Crumlish.

"I'm sure you will join me in having your thoughts with Martin's family at this time. We are not treating the death as suspicious.

"Martin's family have asked me to thank everyone involved in trying to locate him there is too many to name individually, your help is as always greatly appreciated", the spokesperson added.
