A 29-year old man accused of murder has been told that his case is being sent to Belfast Crown Court.
Kenneth Cowan, from Titania Street in the east of the city, has been charged with murdering Brian Burke on April 8 this year.
Police were called to a house in Titania Street, in the Cregagh area of Belfast, in response to an early morning incident.
Mr Burke (29) was treated at the scene for a stab wound, but passed away in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Cowan appeared in the dock of Belfast Magistrates Court today for a Preliminary Enquiry. He spoke to confirm he understood the murder charge, and that he had no objection to the holding of the PE.
A prosecutor told the court she believed there was a prima facie case to answer, and asked that the case be returned to Belfast Crown Court.
Saying she felt there was "sufficient evidence to proceed", District Judge Fiona Bagnall returned the case to Belfast Crown Court for an arraignment, on a date to be fixed. It is at this point that Cowan will be asked whether he pleads guilty or not guilty to the charge of murdering Mr Burke.
