Man (50) arrested for attempted murder over Derry shooting

A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over a shooting in Derry on Tuesday morning.

The man was arrested in the city last night. He remains in police custody today.

Shots were fired after a black car was rammed by a silver Peugeot in Sevenoaks housing estate in the Waterside at around 7am on Tuesday.

Police said the driver of the black car managed to travel to a nearby police station following the attack.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The silver Peugeot was abandoned and set alight at Lincoln Court a short time after the shooting.

Police are continuing to appeal for information.
