The M2 is closed southbound following a two-vehicle crash close to Fortwilliam in north Belfast.

It is understood the crash, which happened before 2pm today, involves a motorcycle and a trailer.

Police said the motorway is closed between Fortwilliam and the M3 Lagan Bridge.

Lengthy traffic jams have already been reported and police are warning motorists of "severe disruption". Motorists are warned that citybound traffic cannot join the M2 at Fortwilliam.

The motorway was closed in both directions for a time. However, the northbound section was re-opened shortly before 4pm.
