POLICE are investigating an assault on a man with a walking frame, who was struck on the head from behind in north Belfast.

The victim was making his way along an alleyway off Flax Street on Sunday June 24 when the attack happened at around 11am.

Police said he was hit on the head and knocked to the ground.

While he was on the ground, his attacker - believed to have been male - removed a sum of cash from his pocket.

It is understood the victim was helped to his feet by a female passer-by and officers are keen to hear from her.

The PSNI are also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this robbery or anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation.
