POLICE have arrested a man and a woman in connection with the murder of a man in north Belfast in December 2013.

The pair, who are both 33-years-old, were arrested in south Belfast this morning by detectives investigating the murder of Basil McAfee who was found dead in the living room of his Henderson Avenue home on Friday December 20 2013.

The 50-year-old had been the victim of an attack involving an axe and a knife. He was last seen alive on the evening of Thursday 19 December.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of Basil McAfee in north Belfast in December 2013 have arrested a man and a woman, both aged 33, in South Belfast this morning.

50 year old Mr McAfee’s body was discovered in the living room of his home in Henderson Avenue on Friday 20 December 2013. He was the victim of an attack involving an axe and a knife. He was last seen alive on the evening of Thursday 19 December.



Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information about Mr McAfee's movements on the evening of December 19 or who saw any suspicious activity in or around Henderson Avenue just off the Cavehill Road that evening to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
