A VIDEO has emerged of three people climbing a 100ft crane at a Derry building site.

The climbers can be seen walking along the arm of a crane at the site on the corner of Strand Road and Great James Street.

The crane is being used to build a hotel being developed by the Duddy Group.

The three-star Holiday Inn Express Hotel will occupy a prime location close to the Peace Bridge.

Developer Brendan Duddy told the BBC: "The site is extremely well secured. We don't know exactly how they got on site."

"Security is not 24 hours. That might have to be looked at," he said.

"It's mad that anyone would do this. We will do our best to make sure no one gets in again.

"This could have been a complete tragedy."
